I’m not using macOS Catalina - keeping Mojave until things get fixed.
Also, perhaps coincidentally, the USB drive I flashed using balenaEtcher 1.5.57 was no longer working to boot a live Linux session. I re-burned the USB thumb drive in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and it worked fine. I also tried it with a saved version of 1.5.1 - same thing.)
